Playlists: Playlists You Create

You can create an empty playlist and add tracks to it later, or you can create a playlist from the contents of the Mixer.

To create an empty playlist:

• Click at the bottom-left of the Playlists area,
  
  or:

• From the Rhapsody menus, select File > New Playlist, or press [CTRL + N] on your keyboard. An empty playlist titled "New Playlist" appears in the Playlists area.
  
  (If you create more than one new playlist and do not rename them, the new playlists will be numbered in the Playlists area. For example, "New Playlist2" and "New Playlist3". You can rename playlists at any time.

To rename a playlist:

1.  Right-clickClick the right mouse button while using an appllication to display an alternate menu of commands or choices. a playlist name in the Playlists area.
   
   
2. Select Rename Playlist from the right-click menu.
   
   
3. Type a new name for your playlist.
   
   
4. Press [ENTER] on your keyboard.

You can add tracks to the new playlist at any time by dragging and dropping tracks from My Library, theMixer, or theMusic Guide to the playlist name in the Playlists area.

To create a playlist from the contents of the Mixer:

1. Click the Mixer tab in the Playlists/Mixer area to open the Mixer.
   
   
2. Drag and drop tracks to the Mixer from the Music Guide or My Library.
   
   
3. Click Save at the bottom of the Mixer window.
   
   
4. A "Save as Playlist" window opens. Type a name for your new playlist.
   
   
5. Click OK. Your new playlist appears in the Playlists area.

To create a playlist by dragging to the Playlists area: 

You can drag tracks and albums from the Music Guide, My Library, or Playlist Central to any white space in the Playlists area. The track(s), album or playlist will be added as a new playlist, which you can rename at any time.

 

1. Click the Playlists tab in the Playlists/Mixer area to view the Playlists area.
   
   
2. Click the name of any playlist in the Playlists area to show its contents in the Display area.
   
   
3. Click at the top of the playlist to start playback.

Note: Select Repeat in the Rhapsody Player Controls to play the playlist continually until you choose to stop it. Select Shuffle to play the playlist in random order. Repeat and Shuffle can be used together or separately.

If there are too many tracks to fit onto the disc, you will see the following message: "The tracks will not all fit onto one disc. Do you want to burn only the tracks that fit?"

You can either choose to burn as much of the list as will fit on the CD and drop the tracks at the end of the list from the burn, or go back and delete some tracks from your Burn queue, then start the burn.

To play a single track in a playlist:

1. Click any playlist name in the Playlists area to view its contents in the Display area.
   
   
2. Double-click any track to play it.

 

You can add tracks, delete tracks, or reorder tracks in a playlist.

To add tracks to a playlist:

1. Click the Playlists tab in the Playlists/Mixer area to view the Playlists area.
   
   
2. Drag and drop tracks from My Library, the Mixer, or the Music Guide into any playlist name in the Playlists area (or any detached playlist window).

Note: You can even drag existing playlists into other playlists to add them to each other. To add just a part of a playlist into another, click the first playlist name to view it in the Display area and then select and drag the tracks you want into the second playlist name.

To delete tracks in a playlist:

1. Click the name of any playlist to open it in the Display area.
   
   
2. Select the tracks you want to delete from your playlist.
   
   
3. Press [DELETE] on your keyboard.

Note: You must be signed in to your Rhapsody account to delete streamed tracks from a playlist.

To change the order of a playlist:

1. Click any playlist name to open it in the Display area.
   
   
2. Drag and drop the playlist tracks in a playlist view of the Display area to reorder them.

Note: You cannot directly edit an AutoPlaylist. To edit an AutoPlaylist, right-click the AutoPlaylist name in the Playlists area, and select Edit AutoPlaylist from the right-click menu.

To delete a playlist from your collection in the Playlists area:

1. Select the Playlists tab in the Playlists/Mixer area to view the Playlists area.
   
   
2. Select a playlist from your collection in the Playlists area.
   
   
3. Click at the bottom-right of the Playlists area. A "Confirm Playlist Deletion" message appears.
   
   
4. Click OK to delete the playlist.

Note: You cannot delete a playlist containing streamed Rhapsody tracks while you are offline. You must sign in to edit or delete those playlists.

Your playlists are located in the Playlists area, directly below the Sources area.  (Click the Playlists tab to view the Playlists area.)

 

• To access your playlists, click the Playlists tab in the Playlists/Mixer area, directly below the Sources area.
  
  
• Your playlists are displayed in alphabetical order, regardless of the playlist type.
  
  
• Click a playlist name to display its contents in the Display area.
  
  
• Double-click a playlist to display it in a separate, detached playlist window.
  
  
• Select multiple playlists by selecting one, pressing and holding [SHIFT] + [CTRL] on your keyboard, and clicking another playlist further down the list. Now you can delete all the playlists at once, or drag them all to your portable player or device.
  
  
• Select all the playlists in the Playlists area by selecting one, then pressing and holding [SHIFT] + [CTRL] on your keyboard,then pressing the letter [A] on your keyboard. Now you can delete all the playlists at once, or drag them all to your portable player or device.
  
  
• You can share Rhapsody playlists from the Playlists area by right-clicking on the playlist, or by clicking the Share button at the bottom of the Playlists area.
   
• You can drag and drop one playlist into another to combine them.
   
• You can drag and drop a playlist into the Mixer. Drag the playlist name to the Mixer tab. When the Mixer opens, drop the playlist into the Mixer.
   
• You can drag and drop a playlist into My Library in the Sources area to add that playlist's tracks to My Library.
   
• You can drag and drop selected tracks from the Playlist view of the Display area into My Library to add them to My Library.
   
• You can drag and drop a playlist to a portable device in the Sources area to add the playlist to your portable player or device. (If the playlist contains streamingProcess of breaking a large audio or video file into smaller pieces and transferring it, piece by piece, so it can be viewed immediately rather than waiting for the whole file to be downloaded. tracks, either the available tracks will be added to your portable device as downloaded Rhapsody tracks, or you will be prompted to purchase the tracks. • Rename any playlist easily:

1. Right-click a playlist name in the Playlists area.
2. Select Rename Playlist from the right-click menu.
3. Type a new name for the playlist.
4. Press [ Enter] on your keyboard.

• The playlists you create can be renamed and edited at any time.
   
• Dynamic playlists cannot be edited, but they can be renamed.

• AutoPlaylists cannot be directly edited from the Display area. You can, however, edit an AutoPlaylist's rules:

1. Right-click the AutoPlaylist name in the Playlists area.
2. Select Edit Autoplaylist from the right-click menu.
3. Edit any or all of the AutoPlaylist rules.
4. Click OK to save your changes.

You can change the name of an AutoPlaylist at any time.

• To subscribe to your personal Dynamic Playlist, click at the top of My Dynamic Playlist in My Rhapsody. It will be added to the Playlists area as a Dynamic playlist You'll get fresh tracks in My Dynamic Playlist every time you sign in, based on your listening history, and your My Genres list in My Rhapsody.
