Troubleshooting: "Internet Explorer security settings
are blocking Rhapsody cookies" error
Question:
What settings are necessary in Internet
Explorer to run Rhapsody?
Solution:
In order to use Rhapsody your computer
must be enabled to accept cookies from RealNetworks sites.
You can either change your privacy settings
to Medium, or you can add RealNetworks sites as "trusted
sites."
To reset Internet Explorer
security settings:
- Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- Click the Tools
menu, then choose Internet Options.
- Click the Security
tab to view your security settings.
- Click the Internet
icon in the window. The security level for this zone section shows your
current security settings. If your current settings are not listed, click
the Default Level button to make
them appear.
- Click the Privacy
tab to view your privacy settings.
- If your settings are higher
than Medium, move the slider down
to Medium or lower.
- Click
Apply.
- Click OK.
- Launch and sign into Rhapsody.
To add RealNetworks sites as trusted sites:
- Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- Click the Tools
menu, then choose Internet Options.
- Click the Security
tab.
- Click the green Trusted
Sites icon in the window.
- Click the Sites
button. A new "Trusted Sites" window appears.
- In the "Add this Web
site to the zone:" box, type:
- listen.com
- rhapsody.com
- real.com
- llnwd.net
- rhap://rhapapp.real.com
- rhapapp.real.com.
- Click OK
twice.
- Launch and sign into Rhapsody.
If you are still having issues, make sure
you do not have any additional firewall
settings that may need to be adjusted.
These instructions are for Internet Explorer 6.0 and higher. It is not recommended that you run Rhapsody with earlier versions of Internet Explorer.
